"I am unable to praise it enough or express how supportive and nurturing I have felt the entire staff to be."

Pastoral Care

We pride ourselves on the high level of care, support and guidance we offer to our students. This enables students to fulfil their potential and enjoy their learning. Staff will always offer additional support, be it at break and lunch times, after-school or via email.

Each student is known and valued. The Headteacher teaches all of Year 7 and this enables him to get to know all students individually. Form tutors and Heads of School play a crucial role in the day-to-day support of our youngsters, with a highly successful special needs and disabilities department. Form Tutors are the first line of contact for most day to day matters and Heads of School monitor academic performance and personal matters. The Headteacher and other Senior Staff also provide much pastoral support to students.

Support clubs and revision sessions are offered in most subjects, and sixth form students act as mentors for younger pupils in many support clubs. An after-school Home Learning Club is also provided to support those who struggle with the organisation and completion of Home Learning. Easter Holiday Revision Classes are run for GCSE and A Level students.

We provide a calm and positive learning environment with mutual respect and integrity being two of our core values.

Independent careers advice is available for all year groups, with more regular interviews available for senior students.

All Year 11 students have a mentor, with this support also being offered to a small group of selected pupils in other year groups, including all those with SEND Education and Health Care Plans (statements). Sixth formers also mentor Y7 students.
