GCSE Higher Project Qualification (Level 2)

Introduction

This qualification is equivalent to ˝ GCSE and provides pupils with the opportunity to produce a very in depth study on an approved chosen topic. The project is started in Term 6 of Year 10 and continues into Year 11.

Facilities

As a large component of the course is developing research skills, most of the teaching is delivered in a classroom with IT facilities and internet access. Students also have access to the school’s library facilities to make full use of all available resources.

Curriculum

The HPQ is designed to develop independent learning skills and pupils will be required to submit the following evidence for assessment:

Lessons and home learning will be focused on completing all tasks and sub-tasks identified in their plan and up-dating their Activity and Resource Logs. Pupils have identified a deadline for completing each task and will be expected to meet these deadlines.

General

Pupils are advised to choose a subject to research that they are enthusiastic about and which genuinely interests them. Their topic choice may link to their plans for further study, work experience or employment aspirations or it could be a personal interest or hobby that provides the rationale for the project.
